Sweet Potatoes by the Fire

It was raining yesterday. A real downpour. Completely uncharacterisitic for late June. Devin and I lit a fire in the fireplace and he had sweet potatoes while we watched the fire. He was glowing in orange light and had orange smeared over his entire body. It was nice, though. After we cleaned up we read some books.

Shrieking and the Ever-Elusive Devin Raspberry

I've been trying to get the ever-elusive Devin raspberry on video for a good month now. I got a brief one but the video is upside down.

Afternoon BBQ

We had a BBQ this afternoon. Devin got to see Gemma Louise again and he was quite smitten. He stared at her with an open-mouthed grin. At one point he grabbed her sleeve and pulled her close, smiling. She was coy and looked away.

We ate espresso-encrusted cheese, prosciutto-wrapped mahi, and tri-tip. Devin had formula and seemed quite content to oogle at Gemma Louise.

Lunch Date

Devin had his 6 month check up and vaccines today. He weighed in at 16 lbs 3 oz. He cried for 60 seconds after the three vaccinations and then he was over it - so brave!

Afterwards we went to 4th Street in Berkeley. Devin had two bottles and I had a decaf iced mocha. We sat outside where we met a Bedlington Terrier named Andy and listened to simultaneous conversations about salsa dancing, politics, and how the Beatles changed everything.

Just Before Bed

Devin was quiet just before bed. He's so sweet. I think he wants the iPhone.

6 months

6 months ago we met Devin for the first time on a cold December day. He was so tiny, so soft, so beautiful, yet so alert. He has grown so much. He is so vibrant, so happy, so strong, and so aware of everything around him. Everyone comments on this. It's like he has a special connection with people. It's incredible how he has grown. We can't wait to see what the future will bring, but at the same time we want to freeze him forever in this perfect baby state. He is amazing.

New Car Seat

He looked puzzled for a second - I think he realized it was different. Then, all smiles. He likes it quite a bit because he can see out of it better than the infant car seat. It seems comfortable because he fell asleep readily a bit later.

We got a BOB Ironman Sport Utility Stroller to take Devin on
runs/hikes. It's amazing. So was the hike tonight.

Dinner Outside

We took Little D to dinner at an outdoor cafe. Diners inside the cafe were smiling at him through the window. He's a charmer!

Just Woke Up

Just woke up but still bright eyed and bushy tailed.

We had lunch with Auntie Melanie and Little Natalie. Natalie made tea for Devin.
