10 Months

10 months old and having a great day at the beach.

Jungle Hike

We drove down the eastern coast and hiked through the jungle. It was a bit more difficult than we thought. Our guide book said "paved," "easy to follow," and "pleasant." The trail was more like what I envision it would be like slogging through ankle-deep mud in Vietnam. Unmarked trails. Lush vegetation, in some areas hardly penetrable. A machete would have been useful. Slippery rocks and steep terrain. The two other sets of people we encountered in the four hours we were there also didn't complete the hike - too difficult! Beautiful and fun but not what we were expecting! I may write a letter to the person who wrote the guide-book....

Tunnels Beach

We spent the day snorkeling and swimming. Devin liked watching the waves and the hordes of surfers paddling out to catch them.

Hidden Beach

In the morning Kathleen and I walked down to the beach near our condo to check it out. It was absolutely incredible, so we all returned later. Devin loved sitting on the sand watching the water lap at his toes. We stayed until the sun went down.

The Queens Bath

Devin chased doves on the lanai this morning. He is determined.

We saw some rainbows while going to pick up coffee for Pete.

Then we hiked over the lava rocks to the Queens Bath and snorkeled the clear, turquoise water.

Hanakapiai Beach

The beach was the beautiful reward at the end of the hike. We ate some snacks and rested for about 20 minutes before making the return trek.
